Former NFL standout Warren Moon became the first black quarterback inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last Saturday, capping a magnificent professional career that spanned twenty-three years.

Joining Moon in the 2006 Hall of Fame class are former NFL stars Troy Aikman, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys; Philadelphia Eagle, Green Bay Packer and Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Reggie White; Oakland Raiders coach and NBC broadcaster John Madden, New York Giants linebacker Harry Carson; and Dallas Cowboys tackle Rayfield Wright.

Moon began his professional football career with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League in 1978. During his six-year tenure, Moon led the Eskimos to an unparalleled five consecutive Grey Cup Championships.

Moon joined the NFL’s Houston Oilers franchise in 1984.

While in Houston, Moon set a number of team and NFL records while excelling in a spread offense called the run-n-shoot.

When the dust settled, Moon racked up nearly 50,000 passing yards (4th best all-time) and was named to nine Pro Bowls in 17 NFL seasons.
