NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Five-time Grammy winning R&B artist Usher and dozens of volunteers worked together to clear an overgrown lawn at the International School of Louisiana, the state's first foreign language-based charter school, which has been closed since Katrina hit Aug. 29.

``To see it, in this state, it's devastating,'' Usher said, cutting away at the vines that had twisted through the chain-link fence surrounding the school, slated to reopen later this year.

``I'm here to physically do something and hopefully motivate other people to do the same,'' said Usher, the latest in a growing list of celebrities to visit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast since Katrina.

Last month, actresses Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and Cicely Tyson joined a group of women brought here by the Children's Defense Fund to bring attention to the needs of storm victims, particularly traumatized children. You can read the full article here (AP)

Lawyers ask Judge to Bar R. Kelly Sex Tape
Posted 06/05/06

Both the prosecution and the defense in the upcoming R. Kelly trial asked the judge on Thursday to bar the public from viewing a videotape allegedly showing the singer having sex with an underage girl.

At a hearing in the Cook County Criminal Court building, both sides asked Judge Vincent Gaughan to only allow jurors, lawyers on both sides and the judge himself to view the tape during Kelly's trial.

In a motion filed by prosecutors, Assistant Cook County State's Attys. Suana Boliker and Robert Heilingoetter argued that because the girl was a minor Gaughan should bar its dissemination in court. Kelly's lawyers also recently filed a similar motion.

They argued that the video is so graphic and lewd it would embarrass the girl. - chron.com

Speaking of Sex Tapes...
Posted 06/05/06

BadOJ.com has what appears to be a recording of the Juice (OJ Simpson) in a 3-way romp with drug addicted hookers, to make matters worse, the site quotes Simpson as saying:
"I didn't believe in sex addicts until my last few girlfriends," "I'm a sexaholic! ... If I'm not sexually active, I become destructive."

Phoenix-based celebrity skin broker David Hans Schmidt said that at one point during the action, Simpson and one of the women go into a bathroom to snort cocaine while the other woman rifles through Simpson's pants and removes money from his wallet. Elsewhere on the tape, said Schmidt, Simpson sings, "If I only had a brain." Simpson and his attorney deny the validity of the tape.
